Prof Abubakar Mu’azu,- Executive Director
He is the Executive Director of BOCODEP. He is a Professor and Director at the Centre for Peace, Diplomatic and Development Studies, University of Maiduguri. He is a Member of the NEITI National Stakeholders Working Group (NSWG). He previously served as Federal Commissioner and Council Member at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). He also served as a Member of the Governing Council, representing the Congregation of the University of Maiduguri.
He was Director of the Directorate of Remedial Studies, University of Maiduguri, and Secretary of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Maiduguri. He teaches Mass Communication in the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, University of Maiduguri, with specialization in Mass Communication and Society.
Prof. Abubakar Mu’azu has served as a Member of the Advisory Board of Amnesty International Nigeria, Board Chairman of the CLEEN Foundation, and Member of the Borno Coalition for Democracy and Progress (BOCODEP). He has consulted for NGOs and national and international development agencies on conflict and peace, gender, and police reform. He has been actively involved in the human rights movement in Nigeria for over three decades and remains active in the civil society sector. His research interests include media, conflict, human rights, crime, and deviance, and he features regularly in media discussions on these issues
Prof. Joseph Wilson – Director, Programme Development
He is the Director of Programme Development at BOCODEP. He is a Professor of New Media and Communication at the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, University of Maiduguri. He is a multidisciplinary researcher and has worked as a consultant on various programmes for organisations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, ENVIPLAN, the African Cities Research Consortium at the University of Manchester, and the International Rescue Committee, among others.
He has developed and played a lead role in the implementation of innovative interventions in the areas of youth and women participation in peacebuilding, accountability, reintegration and reconciliation, environmental and climate change, and urban and natural resources management. He is a member of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN), the African Council for Communication Education (ACCE), the International Peace Bureau, the Journalism Safety Research Network (JSRN), and the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters.
Dr. Abdulmutallib Ado Abubakar – Director, Media Development
He is the Director of Media Development at BOCODEP. He is the Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, University of Maiduguri, and Programme Coordinator for Research, Documentation, and Publications at the Centre for Peace, Diplomatic and Development Studies (CPDDS), University of Maiduguri.
He previously served as a legislative, political, and court reporter at different times for Daily Trust, a publication of Media Trust Ltd., Abuja, Nigeria. He also worked briefly with Triumph Newspaper, Triumph Publishing Company, Kano, as well as Borno Radio and Television (BRTV). He is also the Deputy Executive Director of the Centre for Media, Policy and Accountability (CMPA), Abuja. He has extensive experience working on donor-funded programmes.
Prof. Nuhu Diraso Gapsiso, – Director, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning
He is the Director of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) at BOCODEP. He is a distinguished scholar and Team Lead of the Newspapers Research Team. He previously served as Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, University of Maiduguri, and Programme Coordinator for Communication, Media and Peace at the Centre for Peace, Diplomatic and Development Studies, University of Maiduguri.
He has served as an independent consultant, providing consultancy services to organisations such as Conciliation Resources, United Kingdom (as a Quality Control Specialist on the Peace Research Partnership); the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (providing guidance and technical support to resolve management challenges); and the World Health Organization (as a Quality Assurance Surveyor). He has extensive experience working on donor-funded programmes, including those supported by USAID, Conciliation Resources, the MacArthur Foundation, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the United Nations.

Dr. Rahila Jibrin, – Programme Manager
She is the Programme Manager at BOCODEP and a dynamic, reliable, and dedicated professional with about ten years of work experience in the public and development sectors. Over the years, she has been actively involved in programme development, implementation, and management, as well as capacity building for women- and youth-led organisations and government agencies. She understands the protocols required for effective engagement with government at all levels.
She lectures in the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, University of Maiduguri, and was a Fellow under the Peacebuilding and Religious Tolerance Programme at Drew University, New Jersey. Her professional knowledge, expertise, and experience include peacebuilding, mediation, and youth and women empowerment. She has extensive experience working on donor-funded programmes supported by organisations such as USAID, UNICEF, the Centre for Democracy and Development (United Kingdom), Conciliation Resources (United Kingdom), and the MacArthur Foundation.
Mohammed Ahmed Abdullahi – Finance Manager
He is Finance Manager of BOCODEP. He is a pragmatic development practitioner with two decades of work experience in financial management, operational communication, monitoring of budget performance, public financial planning and reporting. He is Associate of Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and was volunteer at International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and former Project Officer Cohort for Existential Emergency Relief at UNFAO (Maiduguri Office). He is holder of Masters in Applied Management and Enterprise from University of Bradford (United Kingdom), Post Graduate Diploma and Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance from University of Maiduguri. He is exposed to working with different donor funded projects.
Mohammed Golkos Wuyo – Head of Administration
He is the Administrative Secretary of BOCODEP. He acquired over three decades of development experience. He is an enterprising hardworking and technically skilled administrative professional, known for accuracy, self-motivation, highly organised, detailed oriented and timeliness in managing programme or project operations. He possesses confidence and patience to effectively communicate with people from all culture and economic levels maintaining a professional demeanor, superior tasking ability, strong planner, problem solver who readily adapts to change, works independently and exceeds expectations. Able to juggle multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines without compromising quality. He is member, Governing Board of WANEP, Nigeria; member, Board of Trustees of Transition Monitoring Group (TMG); member, Board of Trustees of Borno State Network of Civil Society Coalition; Zonal Coordinator of Zero Corruption Coalition (ZCC).
Farida Abubakar Sadiq, CNA – Account Officer
She is the Account Officer at BOCODEP and Certified National Accountant (CNA) who is highly experienced accounting professional. She gained cognate experience working in different projects funded by USAID, Friedrich Ebert Foundation, NACA, Conciliation Resources, United Kingdom, and IFES as finance officer. She is committed to delivering exceptional service and passionate in volunteering in the non-profit sector.
