BOCODEP HOSTS YPP LEARNING EXCHANGE JUNE 2019
Borno coalition for Democracy and progress (BOCODEP) hosted Youth Peace Platform members from Yobe State and Plateau State. The event was tagged YPP Learning Exchange. The Three-day event features among other things exchange visits to communities, in Borno state. YPPs from Plateau and Yobe visited and interactected with YPP members in Bulabulin Ngranam community, Gwange, Bulumkutu and Moromti . interaction centred on :
What is happening in each of the communities and Local Government Area (LGA) in relation to the violence? What are some of the responses provided by government and other organisations in the State?
How did the YPP come about and how it is functioning?
What is the relationship between your YPP and the At-Risk Youth in your community?
What is YPP’s dialogue approach? Or how do they conduct dialogue in your community? What have you learnt facilitating dialogue in your communities? What are the types of issues you are able to resolve using dialogue and what do you do when dialogue cannot be used to resolve some issues?
How is YPP involved in advocacy? What issues has it engaged on as part of its advocacy initiatives? Which policy actors did it engage and what was the outcome of some of the engagements?
What challenges does YPP experience and how has it managed some of these challenges?
How do the members see the future of the YPP
The event gave the visiting YPPs to see the communities and exchanged ideas about all of the above and other pressing issues in their communities, such as marriages, hygiene and skill acquisition
The Joint learning session took place on Day three of the programme. the event featured staff of Conciliation Resources United Kingdom, Hope Interactive Yobe, Centre for Peace Advancement in Nigeria Jos, Nigerian Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Civil Society organization community leaders from Bulabulin Ngarnam Community. The event features cultural display by Borno Cultural troupe, Sharing of Experiences by the YPPs and goodwill messages from CR, HI, CEPAN and the security agencies.

The YPP members in Borno State have participated in the Hope Interactive/Conciliation Resources organised YPP learning exchange. The even took Place in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital city. The event featured YPPs from Borno, Yobe and Pleateau. The Borno participants was made up of BOCODEP staff, YPPs from Bulabulin Ngarnam, Bulumkutu, Mairi, Gwange, Beneshiek and Moromti. The three-day event from 1st to 3rd July featured amobg other things, visitist to communities, joint learning session, football and egg race. the colourful event engaged you in meaningful discussion and learning sessions.
