About us

BOCODEP is incorporated in Nigeria as non-governmental, non-profit, non-religious and non-political organisation, founded in 1993 to canvass for the validation of June 12 Presidential Election. BOCODEP faced serious difficulties to get registered under the military dispensation until in 1998, the organisation obtained a business name with Corporate Affairs Commission and was duly registered by the Borno State Ministry of Youth, Poverty Alleviation and Sports Development in 2023. BOCODEP has widespread network of members who are associate professionals that have experience in various aspects of development and humanitarian work, and have good working relationship with wide range of stakeholders. Since its inception, BOCODEP undertook various projects activities with support from; USAID, IFES, NACA, Conciliation Resources United Kingdom, Friedrich Ebert Foundation, Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), Civil Society Legislative Action Centre (CISLAC) among others.

 BOCODEP is an active member of the following national platform: Zero Corruption Coalition (ZCC); Centre for Civic Education (formerly TMG); Electoral Reform Network (ERN); West African Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP); Budget Transparency Network (BTN); Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA); and Media Right Agenda (MRA)

BOCODEP focuses on entrenching Democratic Values, Transparency, Accountability, Anti-Corruption, Budget Tracking, Reproductive Health and Human Rights, Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention, Media Development, Civil Society and Community Development.

  1. Promote, defend and consolidate democracy and human rights.
  2. Organize communities and people to articulate their interest, opinion and views freely in conformity with democratic procedures.
  3. Protect and strengthen mass media to discharge their roles creditably under a democracy devoid of any discrimination.
  4. Promote attainment of sustainable and secure environment free from pollution and other forms of degradation.
  5. Facilitate knowledge exchange and experience sharing
  6. Promote peaceful coexistence among diverse communities.
  7. Partner with organisation sharing similar objectives
