Job Title: Project Officer
Location: Maiduguri, with frequent travel to selected Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Borno State
Duration: Six (6) months, with the possibility of extension subject to the availability of funding
BOCODEP is seeking a qualified and committed Project Officer to support the implementation of a DFID-funded peacebuilding and conflict resolution project in Borno State, implemented in partnership with Conciliation Resources (CR), United Kingdom. The Project Officer will work closely with BOCODEP’s team and international partners to ensure effective project delivery.
Specific Tasks and Responsibilities
Strategic and Operational Planning
Contribute to BOCODEP’s strategic and operational planning processes
Participate in team meetings, internal working groups, and planning sessions
Project Coordination, Support, and Relationship Management
Coordinate the implementation of project activities in collaboration with team members
Support budget monitoring, project review, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation processes
Ensure project activities are implemented in line with donor contractual requirements
Manage project communications and documentation
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with local and state-level stakeholders, including NGOs working on peace and security issues
Produce regular narrative reports aligned with approved budgets and financial reports
Maintain effective liaison with project partners and relevant local and state authorities to ensure timely project implementation
Manage the project budget, including monitoring and forecasting expenditure, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with CR financial procedures
Stay informed on political, social, economic, and security developments in North-East Nigeria and share relevant analysis based on field experience
Contribute to organisational learning through project reviews, monitoring, and evaluation
Maintain proper project documentation and filing systems
Essential Experience and Skills
Substantial experience across the project cycle, including planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and narrative and financial reporting
Experience communicating effectively with multicultural and diverse audiences
Proven ability to plan, organise, and facilitate meetings and workshops
Demonstrable experience in preparing, managing, and monitoring budgets and activities
Experience working in conflict-affected areas, including dialogue and community reconciliation processes
Experience working on projects funded by major international donors
Excellent written and spoken English
Good understanding of the North-East Nigeria context and conflict dynamics
Willingness to work irregular hours when required and to travel frequently to LGAs across Borno State
Willingness to learn on the job is an added advantage
